LAURA LAWSON- BLACK

Laura began to establish herself as a character comedienne on the comedy circuit forming a double act (McCloud and Black) that went on to perform at three Edinburgh festivals and numerous comedy venues receiving huge audience and critical acclaim (‘They oscillate excitingly between butter wouldn’t melt innocence and cut glass cruelty – hilarious’ The Scotsman).

Laura has also put forward sketches and performed in the BBC children’s sketch show ‘Stitch-up’ and two years ago she formed the only sketch comedy show for kids with her partner Feri Tezcan. Together they have performed two sell out Edinburgh shows (‘my daughter laughed more than she had at any other show on the fringe.’ Kelly Apter *****The List ***** The Herald) and regularly with James Campbell, at the Menier Theatre along side Brendan Burns and Boothby Graffoe.

‘Tezcan and Black are French and Saunders for kids – the funniest show at this years Fringe. Jeremy Austin THE STAGE’

Laura is currently preparing for their UK tour of this years’ Edinburgh Festival total sell out show ‘SILLY BILLY BUM BREATH’ with Phil Macintyre Entertainment, it is also in development for TV. She is also writing and directing the only ever adult sketch show with a cast of 13 year olds, which can be seen, at the Canal Café Theatre this Spring and at this year’s Edinburgh festival

In between entertaining families around the country, Laura works four days a week as Head of Prep Drama at the Harrodian School in Barnes where she has directed numerous productions and developed the first ever footlights review show with children performing adult topics and humour. She has run her own very successful holiday ‘Drama Extravaganza’ courses for four years at Cannons Gym in Fulham but is very excited to move to a REAL Theatre!

‘School of Comedy’ is her most exciting project to date.
