Ruth Carney - Selector
Ruth
has a BA (Hons) from the University of Sheffield and an MA
in Theatre Directing from The Russian Theatre Academy,
Moscow and Middlesex University, London.
During 2001 Ruth was Artistic Director of The
Latchmere Theatre, London and she was a participant on the
Directors Course at The National Theatre.
Currently Ruth is working on Sisters
at The National Theatre Studio; My Matisse -
opening November 2006 (Jermyn Street Theatre); A Model
Girl - world premiere of a new musical opening
February 2007 (Greenwich Theatre). She is also working on a
fillm with Noel Clarke writer of Kidulthood and in February
2007 Ruth takes up the post of Resident Director on the
stage production of Lord of the Rings opening
at The Theatre Royal, Drury Lane in May 2007.
Most recently Ruth directed the UK
Professional Premiere of The Laramie Project
at Sound Theatre London and the World Premiere of The
Lemon Princess by Rachael Mcgill from an original
idea by Ruth Carney at The West Yorkshire Playhouse, Leeds.

about British Muslim Women and is being developed in
association with The National Theatre Studio.
Ruth is the Resident Director on the stage
production of Lord of the Rings
premiering in Toronto, opening in London in 2007.
